Keith & Jan Smith are "Fairport", a small select kennel dedicated to the Neapolitan Mastiff and the French Bulldog. Situated in sunny Queensland just outside of the metro area of Brisbane.
We bought our first
british bulldog in 1973 and soon became keen exhibitors.
The name Fairport was registered with the Canine Control Council
in 1976. Early 1977 we bought a lovely british bulldog who
developed into a wonderful dog and won many "in group"
and "in show " awards.
We had our first litter of bulldog pups in 1979, and in that year
bought a pied french bulldog from Les & Dulcie Partridge from
their newly imported pied dog from the UK.
We have taken numerous
dogs through to Championship status whilst winning Show and group
awards along the way.
Many of our homebred dogs have attained
Championships with their respective owners.
In 1982 we travelled to the UK to visit Crufts with Wes Stacey
& Dulcie Partridge. It was then when we imported our Aust.
Ch. Besing Piccolo bred by Mrs Barbara Chataway. His progeny can
still be traced through pedigrees to this day.
We saw our first Neo at the Brisbane Royal Show being exhited by
Lorene Evans. We wanted one there and then - but didn't actually
get one until a few years later.
In 1997 we bought our first male
Neapolitan from Ron Edmunds & Jo Harris. He is Aust. Ch.
Bellamico Birbone. In 2000 we bought a tawny female Magnufi
Incendia from Lorene have had our first neo litter
from this pair.
